2023 Polls: IGP Warns Politicians Against Violent Campaigns

The Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, has urged politicians to play by the rules ahead of the elections in 2023 and avoid violent clashes during electioneering campaigns.

He disclosed this on Thursday during the weekly ministerial briefing organised by the Presidential Communications Team at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Recall that on Wednesday supporters of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, were injured on when hoodlums attacked his convoy in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

According to the IGP, the Borno State Police Command’s spokesperson may have reached a conclusion too quickly in his assessment, adding that a team is being set up to thoroughly investigate the matter.
