Pictured: Tenold Jack Johnson who died alongside two other boys on Solihull lake

One of the boys who died after plunging into a frozen lake in Solihull was 10-year-old Jack Johnson who neighbours said had been playing on the ice, MailOnline can reveal.

Jack and three other boys aged six, eight, and 11, were taken to hospital in a critical condition after suffering cardiac arrests having fallen through ice at Babbs Mill Park at 2.30pm yesterday.

The youngster and two of the other boys could not be saved, whilst the six-year-old remains in a critical condition in hospital, police confirmed today at a press conference near the scene of the tragedy.

A neighbour told MailOnline that Jack and the other children were ‘playing on top of the frozen lake when the ice cracked.’ Photos show him smiling with his father and climbing a tree.
