Buhari to review Naval fleet

The Nigeria Navy said it had invited the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), to review its fleet to honour him for his support to the service.

According to the navy, the event is done to honour the head of government.

The event involves the assemblage of ships and maritime assets at a designated area.

Speaking during an International press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, the Chief of Policy and Plans, Rear Admiral Saidu Garba, said a total of 20 capital ships, 300 Inshore patrol vessels, and assault craft, as well as two locally built ships among others, were launched into the navy’s inventory under Buhari.

He said, “During the eight-year administration of President Buhari, a total of 20 Capital Ships were procured for the Navy. The ships comprise Offshore Patrol Vessels, Landing Ship Transport, Hydrographic Survey Vessels, Seaward Defence Boats, Helicopters, as well as, over 300 Inshore Patrol Vessels and Assault Crafts.
