Respect Nigeria’s cultures, traditions, Buhari advises new diplomats

With barely 10 days to the end of his tenure, the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has advised diplomats posted to Nigeria to respect the country’s culture and traditional institutions.

“There is a lot to learn from our culture, and the traditional institutions are the custodians, and they should be respected by all,’’ Buhari advised the United Kingdom High Commissioner in Nigeria, Richard Montgomery and his counterpart from the Democratic Republic of Sri Lanka, Velupillai Kananathan, when he received Letters of Credence from both diplomats on Thursday at the State House, Abuja.

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, revealed this in a statement he signed on Thursday titled ‘Always respect cultures and traditional institutions, President Buhari tells diplomats.’
