House Sends Biden Impeachment Articles To Committees

The GOP-led House voted on Thursday to send articles of impeachment against President Joe Biden to a pair of committees.

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) brought forth articles of impeachment, which accuse Biden of “high crimes and misdemeanors” over his administration’s handling of the U.S.-Mexico border, with a privileged resolution that would force a vote on the House floor, according to Boebert.

Some Republicans voiced opposition to a vote on impeachment in a way that bypassed committees, but House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) came to an agreement with Boebert that would allow the matter to move forward, according to Fox News.

That plan, in which the House Rules Committee referred the resolution to the House Homeland Security and House Judiciary Committees, passed by a 219-208 vote along party lines on Thursday.

“Today, I initiated historic impeachment proceedings against Joe Biden for his unconstitutional dereliction of duty at the southern border,” Boebert said in a tweet….
