Army’ll continue to defend Nigeria’s constitution, says COAS

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja has reiterated that the Nigerian Army would continue to be committed to upholding the tenets of the Nigerian constitution.

He stressed that the army’s role in the protection of democracy is very imperative.

Lagbaja stated this on Tuesday while speaking at the Nigerian Army Combat Support Arms Training Week, held at the International Culture and Event Center in Akure, Ondo State.

The army boss stressed that the army had already been performing its duties by ensuring that Nigerians sleep with their two eyes closed.

According to him, the army was restrategizing and brainstorming on contemporary security challenges, improving the capability of various support elements to combat insurgency bedeviling the country.
