Brentford sign Nigeria U-20 defender

English Premier League side Brentford have announced the signing of Nigeria U-20 player Benjamin Fredrick on loan from Simoiben FC in Kaduna until the end of the 2023/24 season.

Simoiben FC is owned by Super Eagles winger, Moses Simon.

The Kaduna side also shared the unveiling of the player on their Instagram account with the caption, “We can’t promise he won’t sting you.”

The move is subject to international clearance and the central defender will join up with the Brentford’s B team under coach Neil MacFarlane.

There is also an option to make the signing permanent.

The 18-year-old defender has had loan spells with Nigerian clubs such as ABS and Nasawara United in recent seasons and he now heads to west London to continue his development under the B-team staff.

Frederick played for Nigeria at the U-20 AFCON and World Cup earlier this year, finishing third at the Africa showpiece and also reached the quarter-finals at the world cup in Argentina.
