Ganduje’s vow to ‘capture’ Ondo, threat to democracy — PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly criticized a recent statement attributed to Umar Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), regarding the conduct of the forthcoming governorship election.

Ganduje’s remarks suggested that the APC aims to “capture” Ondo State in the upcoming poll and use it as a stepping stone to secure control over Oyo and Osun states.

Reacting on Monday, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, described Ganduje’s statement as “reckless” and “irresponsible,” arguing that it reveals a troubling desire for totalitarian control in Nigeria’s political landscape.

He highlighted that the term “capture,” as defined in the dictionary, implies taking by force or strategy, which he equated to treating the people of these states as “prisoners of war.”
