The PUNCH: The Peoples Democratic Party and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, are strategising on how to win votes from the South-West, Saturday PUNCH has learnt. This followed the emergence of a former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, as the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress.


The Guardian: The Supreme Court has struck out the suit filed by President Muhammadu Buhari and the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami (SAN) to void section 84 (12) of the Electoral Act 2022. In a unanimous decision, yesterday, the apex court led by Justice Muhammad Dattijo held that it lacked the jurisdiction to entertain the suit, which it said amounted to an abuse of the judicial process.


The Nation: The 2023 senatorial aspirations of Senate President Ahmed Lawan, immediate past Minister of Niger Delta Affairs Godswill Akpabio and Ebonyi State Governor Dave Umahi may have hit the rocks. Their names were conspicuously missing from the list of senatorial candidates displayed yesterday by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at its offices across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.


Daily Trust: As the struggle to get Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) otherwise called petrol mounts, it has been estimated that Nigerians guzzled 2,020,248,000 litres of the product and spent at least N333.34 billion at official retail pump price on it in one month. Observers have, however, queried the figures.
