The PUNCH: In a last-ditch effort to resolve the lingering cash crisis that has thrown the entire country into turmoil, governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress on Sunday met with the party leadership at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja. This was as the chief executive officers of banks also met to proffer solutions to the situation which had led to attacks on banks and the death of no fewer than 13 persons across the country.


The Guardian: Ahead of Saturday’s presidential poll, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has pleaded with President Muhammadu Buhari to comply with the Supreme Court’s injunction aimed at easing the prevailing cash crunch in the polity. The position was widely endorsed by the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and members of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), led by Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State, after an emergency meeting held at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, yesterday.


This Day: Contrary to a recent comment by the Minister of State, Labour and Employment, Mr. Festus Keyamo in which he had faulted President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive that the old N200 be recirculated until April 10, 2023, while the old N500 and N1,000 cease to be legal tender, the Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, who is also a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), at the weekend argued that the directive of the president was not a direct affront to Supreme Court that had temporarily halted the move to ban the old currencies by February 10, 2023.
