The Sun

Anger is growing after a Tube driver led passengers in chants of “Free Palestine”, reports The Sun.

It says people on the train were heading to Saturday’s protest but that transport bosses claim they don’t know who was responsible.

Daily Star

The Star says scientists have finally found the genes that cause baldness.

The Times

The home secretary wants an explanation from the head of the Met Police on why protesters in London chanting for a “jihad” against Israel were not arrested, says The Times.

It reports that Sir Mark Rowley will respond by saying they could not have been prosecuted under existing laws.

The Daily Telegraph

Suella Braverman will insist during the meeting that “there can be no place for incitement to hatred or violence”, a source has told The Daily Telegraph.

The paper says the Met concluded no offence took place on Saturday as “jihad” can have “a number of meanings”.

Daily Express

The home secretary will “demand answers” from the Met commissioner, says the Daily Express. An estimated 100,000 people attended the pro-Palestinian rally on Saturday.

The Mail has the same story and quotes a report saying that “up to 15 officers stood by and watched” as some protesters chanted for “jihad”.

The Guardian

Israel is under increasing pressure to negotiate the release of more than 200 people still being held by Hamas since its attack on the country two weeks ago, The Guardian says.

A significant number are dual nationals and the only people released so far are two US citizens, a mother and daughter, freed a few days ago.

Daily Mirror

Sir Bobby Charlton’s younger brother, Tommy, has paid tribute to him in an interview with the Mirror. The Manchester United great died on Saturday aged 86.

The FT leads with a US warning that its troops and personnel in the Middle East are at risk of a “significant escalation” in attacks against them as the Israel-Hamas war threatens to morph into a regional conflict.
