Ogun police want CCC shepherd to provide vehicle, fuel to rescue abducted assistant

Policemen in Ogun State have asked Seyi Oladapo, a clergyman, to provide a vehicle and fuel before they rescue Abiola Oluboboye, Oladapo’s assistant who has spent six months in captivity, despite successfully tracking him.

This request came weeks after FIJ had reported how Ogun policemen asked relatives of the abducted pastor and Oladapo to pay N300,000 before they could embark on a mission to rescue Oluboboye.

Kidnappers took Oladapo and Oluboboye from the Celestial Church of Christ Jehovah Shalom Parish in the Ibafo area of Ogun in March.

Oladapo escaped from the clutches of his abductors but Oluboboye remained their captive.

Akeem Ajisafe, a member of the church, told FIJ that some policemen of the Elewe Eran Police Station and Mowe Police Station asked Oladapo to get a vehicle that would convey them to the tracked location.

“The police have not made any move to release the pastor and arrest the kidnappers because of transportation. They are requesting a vehicle that they will take to the tracked location,” Ajisafe told FIJ on Thursday.

“The family of the abducted pastor are not available. The other pastor (Oladapo) has been the only one footing the bills, and he is down at the moment. He has been looking for funds, but nothing is adding up. He would have to pay for the car and still buy fuel, which would cost him a lot of money.”

In August, FIJ reported how Oluboboye’s abductors had taken over his social media accounts and began using the accounts as theirs. This made it easy for the police to track them.

Yet, the police failed to rescue Oluboboye and asked Oladapo to pay N300,000 before discharging their duties.

Omotola Odutola, the Ogun State Police PRO, did not respond to the text message that FIJ sent to her on Thursday. FIJ also called her on Monday, but she did not respond.
