When it was created 18 years ago today, few people thought Facebook would grow to be the biggest social media site on earth with over 2 billion users.
With that astonishing success in mind, it’s funny to think that CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s original idea for the website was something very different indeed – he wanted to compare college girls to farm animals.
In November 2003, Zuckerberg and his coder friends were studying at Harvard University and one night the drunk computer genius hatched upon a plan.
Amazingly in just one night, Zuckerberg published FaceMash – a website that allowed users to directly compare the attractiveness of female students and rank which one they preferred.
