After abandoning successful 2021 candidates, Army calls for fresh course 26 applications

A painter has accused the Nigerian Army of deceit in its ongoing Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) recruitment.

The painter, who asked not to be named, applied for the DSSC Course 26 and made the shortlist in January 2021. However, the army refused to acknowledge the shortlist. Instead, it called for new applications in March 2022.

“In Nov 2020, we wrote the DSSC exam, and in January, some of us were shortlisted for the finance screening, medicals and physical examination,” he told FIJ. “The screening started on February 1 and it was to last for about two weeks. After that, we expected to proceed for training, but nothing came.”

The process changed after General Tukur Buratai, the then Chief of Army Staff, was replaced by Major General Ibrahim Attahiru.

“The chief of staff was replaced when we were still in the process. We speculated that the whole process would be annulled, but the army debunked it in a statement in March 2021,” he said.
