How generator fumes killed Enugu bridegroom, wedding guests – Family

Some relatives of the six persons that died on Saturday in Akutara village, Adani community, in the Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State have said their deaths might not be unconnected with generator fumes.
This is coming as the State Police Command says it has commenced investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
SaharaReporters reported on Monday that six persons, including a groom, Obinna Dike, died on Saturday after his traditional marriage on Friday.
It had been reported that according to a police statement, eight others family members were hospitalised.
According to Punch, the family of the deceased said that the death of victims could be linked to the inhalation of fumes emitting from a generator that was placed at the verandah of the house.
The paper quoted one of the sources to have said, “The bride, the groom’s mother and sister, whose two sons died and the rest that were hospitalised have recovered.
“The groom’s mother and the bride have been asking the whereabouts of the groom since they regained consciousness. We are suspecting generator fumes to be the cause of their deaths.
“After the incident, we discovered that a generator that was used that night was placed at the veranda of the house which is close to living room where the deceased who were male slept.”
