The Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) has expressed grief over the accidental bombing of Tudun Biri in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State by the Nigerian Army on Sunday, which left no fewer than 85 villagers dead.

The incident was said to have occurred on Sunday night when hundreds of residents of the area gathered for the annual Maulud celebration.

In a statement released on Monday, the Kaduna State government said the Nigerian Army had claimed responsibility for dropping the bomb, in what it described as “an unfortunate and unintended attack.”

The IMN, in a statement on Tuesday by Sheikh Sidi Munir Mainasara Sokoto, a member of the movement, called for a thorough investigation to ascertain what led to the massacre.

The movement made the following demands:

“All people of conscience should come out publicly to condemn these atrocities and demand justice for the people of Tudun Biri. The perpetrators of this massacre should be identified, investigated, and prosecuted.
