Aisha Yesufu criticizes FG’s UAE visa ban approach as ‘faking it until they make it’

Social critic and human rights activist, Aisha Yesufu, has raised concerns over the handling of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) visa ban by President Bola Tinubu’s administration, suggesting that they may intend to feign the lifting of the ban until it is actually lifted.

Yesufu’s remarks follow recent reports indicating a potential lifting of the visa ban on Nigerians by the UAE. However, the clarification provided by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to the President, refuted these reports, stating that the ban remains in place.

Taking to her social media platform on Wednesday, Yesufu expressed skepticism, asserting, “Tinubu’s illegitimate government wants to fake it until they make it!”

The UAE had imposed the visa ban on Nigerians and citizens from 19 other African countries in October 2022.

The conflicting reports and statements surrounding the status of the visa ban highlight the need for clarity and transparency from government officials regarding diplomatic matters of national importance.
