Clark claims troops ransacked his home in response to Delta killings

Elder statesman and National Leader of the Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), Chief Edwin Clark, has strongly condemned the recent military raid on his country home in Kiagbodo Local Government Area of Delta State in response to the killing of soldiers in the state.

In a statement issued yesterday, Chief Clark recounted the distressing incident, highlighting how he was flooded with calls regarding the military operation targeting a suspect allegedly connected to the killing of 17 soldiers in Okuama.

The Ijaw leader revealed that the Commanding Officer of the Nigerian Army’s Division in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, later apologized on behalf of the army for the raid.

Describing the military’s approach, Chief Clark stated that the armed personnel arrived in five trucks, carrying approximately 30 to 40 soldiers, while drones were employed for surveillance within the premises.

Expressing his dismay, Chief Clark stated, “Some of them went to the buildings behind the main house and forcefully entered all locked doors. They proceeded to evacuate my staff residing in those buildings, including university lecturers, and compelled them to sit on the bare ground.”
