Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has warned desperate Nigerian politicians from the North not to sink the country with their moves to retain power in the region beyond 2023.

The group said those working against the rotational presidency between the North and South in 2023 should be aware of the fact that changing the narratives for inordinate ambition will have disastrous consequences if they achieve their plans by 2023.

The group in a statement signed by Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, its Secretary-General warned that the North must consider the security implications of retaining power beyond 2023.

According to the group, the North without any options must voluntarily concede power to the south for the interest of peace and stability, “except if they have decided to set the nation ablaze and sink it.”

Ohanaeze said Igbos have been pushed out of Nigeria based on the fact that owners of Nigeria craftily designed policies and procedures to enslave the people of the southeast politically and economically, adding that “only 2023 Igbo Presidency will assuage the perceptions that Igbo are still part of Nigeria.”
