2023: Igbinedion's daughter seeks return to House of Reps

Omosede Igbinedion, one of the daughters of Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, Esama of Benin, has declared interest to contest the Ovia federal constituency of the House of Representatives.

In 2015, Omosede was elected into the lower legislative chamber of the National Assembly under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), but lost her reelection bid.

During her time at the National Assembly, she was the youngest female member and Deputy Chairman, House Services in the House of Representatives. She was also a member of the following committees: Local Content, Aviation, Downstream Petroleum, FCT, Judiciary, Rural Development, Women in Parliament.

Speaking in Okada, Edo state, over the weekend, Omosede said she is the most qualified among those who had indicated interest to contest the federal constituency seat.

“I am here today to officially inform you that I have picked the form to contest the ticket for the house of representatives and seek your votes.”

“And it was on the PDP platform that I was nominated as the candidate to contest in 2015 and we won. And I believe there must be a reward for loyalty. I believe loyalty pays.

“Among those who have indicated interest to contest the ticket on the PDP platform, I am the only second time member, and I would be a ranking member in the house if given the opportunity.

“If you vote for me, as a second time member in the house, I can guarantee you that I will take prominent position as chairmanship of grade A Committee and that would enable me to do more for our constituency…
