The member-elect for Bassa/Jos-North Federal Constituency, Hon. Muhammad Adam Alkali, of the Peoples’ Redemption Party (PRP), has commended President Muhammadu Buhari, and theIndependent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), over the 2022 electoral act.
He said the verdict of the Election Petition Tribunal that cancelled the over-voting in favour of his opponent Hon. Musa Agah, of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), was a good omen for both the judiciary and democracy.
The tribunal has on Friday, in its unanimous judgement, delivered by Justice Zainab Bashir, nullified the return of Hon. Musa Agah of the PDP, for the bye-election of February 26, 2022 into Bassa/Jos-North federal constituency.
The tribunal also ordered INEC to forthwith issue certificate of return to Muhammad Adam Alkali, as valid winner of the election.
Alkali while reacting on the judgment said it is now clear that the electoral system is getting better.
