2023: Awolowo’s daughter endorses Peter Obi for president, alleges plot to get rid of Tinubu

Tokunbo Awolowo-Dosunmu, the daughter of Nigerian nationalist and statesman, Obafemi Awolowo, has declared support for the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi.

Awolowo-Dosunmu in a video she posted on social media, revealed an alleged plot to get rid of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, if he wins the 2023 election.

Making a case for power shift to the South East, Awolowo-Dosunmu asked about the last time an Igbo man presided over Nigeria, adding that it should be their turn to lead the country.

She said this is the first time Nigerians don’t have to choose between PDP and APC.

“We have a very good choice, which is Peter Obi and Yusuf Datti. There’s no way we can say we can’t see this”, she added.

She called on the Yorubas to eschew emotions, ethnicity and think about the future of Nigeria, stressing that there was a plot to get rid of Tinubu and install his running mate, Kashim Shettima as president.

Awolowo-Dosunmu claimed that the plot may be perfected immediately after the 2023 swearing-in. She said those behind the plot would take advantage of Tinubu’s medical condition.
