Youths warn against move to stop Tinubu, Shettima's inauguration

DAILY POST

Youth groups have warned against the alleged plot to stop the inauguration of President-elect Bola Tinubu and Vice President-elect Kashim Shettima.

The coalition made its position known during the weekend in Lagos during a media briefing commemorating Tinubu’s 71st birthday.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, already presented Tinubu and Shettima with certificates of return, but the opposition insists they should not enter office.

Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, vice presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, said the May 29 swearing-in would be a breach of the constitution.

“We cannot have a President-elect when there has been a constitutional breach…swearing in Tinubu is as good as swearing in a military regime,” Datti Baba-Ahmed stated.

But Olanrewaju Oluwofowobi, Vice Coordinator of Nigeria Youth in Politics, vowed that noting will stop the transition to another All Progressives Congress, APC, government.

“A winner has emerged, Tinubu will be sworn in. In fact, there will be a nationwide party to celebrate his inauguration,” Oluwofowobi said.

Tinubu Shettima Movement Coordinator, Adetokunbo Adesina accused a cross-section of Nigerians of engaging in religious and ethnic bias.

“I’m a Christian but I don’t play politics of emotion and that is how it should be. The Muslim-Muslim ticket was the best formular. We all saw they acted like brothers during the campaign.
