Speaker Mike Johnson under Trump pressure to make a deal that is ‘PERFECT ON THE BORDER’

Donald Trump demanded Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) go all-or-nothing by refusing any bipartisan spending deal that doesn’t give him everything he wants on border security.

In Trump’s latest Truth Social binge, the former president rejected the spending negotiations Johnson has been working on to prevent a partial government shutdown by the end of the week.

I do not think we should do a Border Deal, at all, unless we get EVERYTHING needed to shut down the INVASION of Millions & Millions of people, many from parts unknown, into our once great, but soon to be great again, Country!” Trump posted. “Also, I have no doubt that our wonderful Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, will only make a deal that is PERFECT ON THE BORDER. Remember, without Strong Borders and Honest Elections, we don’t have a Country!!!

In recent days, far-right members of the House have been threatening to mutiny against Johnson unless he gives into their demands and scraps the current budget deal. Johnson has clarified his intent to stick with the deal, but since Trump is ordering him to reject it, the logical conclusion is that the former president would prefer chaos and dysfunction as long as it allows him to keep running on his pet issue of fixing the border.

Fox News’ Laura Ingraham made Trump’s influence all the more apparent on Wednesday night when she spoke with Johnson and said right at the top that the ex-president wants the deal scuttled.

“The president actually just got off the phone with me right before the show,” said Ingraham. “He said he has spoken to you about this deal and that he is against it, and he urged you to be against this deal. President Trump was extremely adamant about that.”
