Ex-NLC president alleges Labour Party chairman evading police prosecution

Former President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ayuba Wabba, has accused the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Julius Abure, of evading police prosecution by hiding from authorities.

In an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Wabba revealed that a police report had indicted Abure for fraudulent activities during his tenure.

Wabba disclosed that the police report implicating Abure had been submitted while he was still in office as NLC president. He alleged that Abure had been avoiding the police to escape prosecution.

The revelation comes amid escalating tensions within the Labour Party, pitting Abure against the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).

According to Wabba, “Police have conducted a thorough investigation, and Abure has been indicted. Despite the evidence, he has been evading law enforcement.”

Wabba emphasized the seriousness of the allegations, stating that the police report confirmed fraudulent activities within the Labour Party. He urged the police to proceed with the prosecution, asserting that the delay lies with law enforcement.

While acknowledging rumors of attempts to politicize the issue, Wabba reiterated the need for the police to carry out their duties impartially.

“The truth is clear: there is evidence of wrongdoing, and we trust the police to pursue justice,” Wabba concluded.
