PDP: Victory for Wike as National Caucus backs Damagum before NEC meeting

In anticipation of Thursday’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the party’s National Caucus has expressed confidence in Acting National Chairman Umar Iliya Damagum.

The announcement was made by PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, following the conclusion of a meeting on Wednesday night. Ologunagba stated that the vote of confidence in Damagum was aimed at fostering reconciliation and unity within the party.

As part of efforts to promote harmony, the caucus has directed the party management to establish a discipline and reconciliation committee tasked with reconciling all members. Consequently, Damagum will continue to serve in his acting capacity until the next NEC meeting following Thursday’s gathering.

Ologunagba added that today’s NEC meeting would have nothing to do with leadership change until the next national convention of the party.

NEC meeting will not discuss any change in leaders. Rather, attention is focused on unity and reconciliation.
