EDO: Court nullifies PDP governorship primary election

Justice Ekwo voided the primaries on the ground that 378 delegates who were supposed to vote at the primary election were unlawfully excluded by PDP.

Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja, has declared the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) governorship primary election held on February 22, 2024, invalid.

The court found that 378 delegates were unlawfully excluded from the primary election, which violates the Electoral Act 2022, PDP guidelines, and the party’s constitution.

The court deemed the evidence presented by the PDP insufficient and lacking proof, indicating manipulation of result sheets by returning officers.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) did not submit any further processes in the case, but its counsel declared they would abide by the court’s decision, upholding the plaintiffs’ arguments.
