Court order didn’t invalidate Ighodalo’s candidacy, says Edo PDP

The Federal High Court in Abuja has nullified the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary in Edo State, declaring the outcome invalid.

The court ruled that the exclusion of 381 delegates, including the plaintiffs, was against the law, and the returning officers falsified the outcome of the poll.

The PDP campaign organisation has dismissed the judgment as a “strange development”, arguing that the court has no jurisdiction over internal party affairs such as ward congresses and delegate selection.

The organisation has expressed confidence that the court order will not survive an appeal, and has urged party members and supporters to remain calm and ignore the “antics of mischief makers”.
