Pro-Fubara lawmakers head to Supreme Court to challenge recent Appeal judgement

Lawmakers loyal to Governor Siminalayi Fubara plan to appeal the Court of Appeal’s judgment on the Rivers State High Court’s jurisdiction in a suit related to defectors from the PDP to the APC.

Victor Oko-Jumbo, Speaker of the pro-Fubara lawmakers, has instructed their legal team to appeal to the Supreme Court, describing the Court of Appeal’s decision as a miscarriage of justice.

Oko-Jumbo clarified that the Court of Appeal did not rule on whether Martins Amaewhule and 24 others defected from the PDP to the APC, but rather on the jurisdiction of the Rivers State High Court.

During the plenary session, the Rivers State Transport Company Reform Bill 2024 and the Rivers State Emergency Management Bill 2024 were passed after their first reading.
