Zamfara Commissioner quits office, sets sights on local government position

The Commissioner for Information and Culture in Zamfara State, Mua’zu Haidara Kaura, has reportedly stepped down from his position to participate in the upcoming local government elections within the state

According to Daily Post, Kaura made his decision after the Zamfara State Independent Electoral Commission (ZASIEC) fixed the state’s local government election for November 16, 2024.

Naija News recalls that Bala Aliyu Gusau, the newly appointed Chairman of the Commission, announced the election schedule last week.

Gusau, who was sworn in as ZASIEC’s chairman by the state Chief Judge, Justice Kulu Aliyu, represented by Mukhtar Yusha’u of the Zamfara State High Court, during a ceremony held in the council chamber of the Government House in Gusau, stated that the sale and submission of expression of interest forms will take place from October 25, 2024, to November 1, 2024.

The state’s ruling party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)  has since commenced their campaign efforts throughout the state and also announced that the sale of nomination forms for both chairmanship and councillorship elections will start on October 25.

Meanwhile, the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has yet to issue any formal announcement regarding the elections.
