Atiku speaks on PDP crisis, says party will remain united

PRESIDENTIAL candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar has said the party will remain united despite indications that the party is facing a fresh crisis.

The emergence of Delta State governor Ifeanyi Okowa as the vice presidential candidate of the PDP has led to a perceived disagreement between the party’s stalwarts.

Eleven of the party’s governors, who are part of the 128-man PDP National Campaign Council for the July 16 governorship election in Osun State, were absent at the inauguration of the team on Wednesday.

Speaking on the crisis in a statement posted on his Twitter page on Thursday, Atiku said the party is taking action to address the feelings of its aggrieved members.

“The unity in our community is my priority. Our resolve to unify Nigeria starts in our party and moves to the community, then on to society.”
