Drunkards in Ghana threaten to stop drinking over worsening economic situation

Given the worsening economic hardship Ghana is facing under Nana Akufo Addo and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, drunkards have threatened to stop their favourite pastime if nothing is done about the soaring hike in prices of everything, including alcoholic beverages. 

The group’s association claims that their penchant for drinking has been significantly impacted by the decline in the value of the Ghanaian cedi relative to the US dollar. 

Speaking to Kasapa News, Moses Onyah (Dry Bone), president of the Ghana Drunkards Association, revealed that, in the past, they could become completely inebriated after purchasing only Ghc5 worth of “akpeteshie,” but that, as a result of the recent price hike, they now need to spend at least GHc15 before they are inebriated. 

According to Moses Dry Bone, the group has a sizable number of members, and the beverage business would be significantly impacted if they stopped buying from them…
