Organ harvesting: Nigerians react as British court finds Ekweremadu, wife guilty

Nigerians on social media have reacted to the reports of former Deputy Senate president, Ike Ekweremadu and ,his wife, Beatrice who was found guilty of organ trafficking by a United Kingdom court.

Naija News earlier reported that Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice, daughter Sonia and Obinna Obeta, a doctor involved in the case, conspired to bring the victim to London to exploit him for his kidney.

According to the publication, the jury found that Ekwerenmadu and others mentioned were guilty and would face the punishment for their offence, a case said to be the first verdict of its kind under the Modern Slavery Act.

Reacting to the verdict by the British court, some Nigerians commended the British court while others extended prayers to the family in these trying times.

Kelvin wrote: “I honestly don’t care much for this people. But that young man knew exactly what he was sent there to do. He’s not the victim here. He knew the details and what was expected of him. If he knew he wasn’t comfortable with the agreement he shouldn’t have taken the deal. Now he got to the uk. Most likey got some first payment and then decide to go report them? Now he’s has messed up the life of the whole family. I mean the family are innocent as well but that young man is definitely not the victim. He just played smart.”
