Some desperate North Koreans are resorting to cannibalism as ‘extreme hunger’ has gripped parts of the country amid extreme food shortages, according to reports.
Recent defectors reportedly told South Korean authorities that extreme hunger caused some people to take extreme measures.
The economic hardships caused by King Jong-un’s regime and its mismanagement were hardened by complications from Covid-19, from which the hermit state has struggled to recover from.
The aforementioned defectors are a family from North Korea who arrived by boat in South Korea last month.
The Korea Herald reported that the family consists of a mother and two brothers, their wives and young children.
