Wale Edun, one of the ministerial nominees sent to the senate by President Bola Tinubu for screening and confirmation, has disclosed that he was an amateur boxing champion as a student.

Speaking while being screened on Tuesday at the red chamber of the national assembly, Edun said Nigeria is too blessed not to be successful.

He added that if confirmed as minister, he will work hard to retain a record of competence and integrity during service.

“It is my great privilege to appear before you this afternoon to humbly seek your confirmation to enable me answer the call of our President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and offer my service to our beloved nation,” he said.

“Aside from economics, may I say that I have engaged in youth empowerment.

“I am involved in the international award for young people Nigeria which runs the Duke of Edinburgh’s award.”

Edun, a former finance commissioner in Lagos, told the lawmakers that they would be surprised that he was quite the boxer in his younger days.
