Benjamin Mendy arrives at court to stand trial accused of raping women

Manchester City and France international footballer Benjamin Mendy arrived at Chester Crown Court on Wednesday morning where he is due to go on trial accused of rape

Manchester City footballer Benjamin Mendy has been pictured arriving at court where he is due to go on trial accused of rape.

Wearing a white shirt, blue blazer and a striped tie, Mendy appeared at Chester Crown Court on Wednesday morning. He is charged with eight counts of rape, one count of sexual assault and one count of attempted rape, concerning seven different women.

All the alleged offences are said to have taken place at Mendy’s home address. The 28-year-old has denied all of the charges apart from the most recent charge of rape. He has not yet entered a plea for it.

Mendy was first charged by police in August 2021. Earlier that month he had played for City against Leicester City in the Community Shield and against Tottenham in their Premier League opener.
