Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter) in the aftermath of Greenwood’s sending off, Iglesias wrote: “If someone finds a video of me that says f*** you, I’ll invite them to a seafood platter.”

The feisty match saw three players sent off as Juanmi Latasa was shown two yellows before half-time, before Damian Suarez was also given a red by referee Jorge Figueroa after being substituted by Getafe.

But Getafe boss Pepe Bordalas insisted that Greenwood had not insulted the referee, but was only frustrated with decisions that occurred during the match. That contradicts with the officials’ report which stated that Greenwood shouted “f*** you” to Figueroa.

“The player told me that he said ‘don’t f*** with me’, only that,” Bordalas said in his post-match press conference. “It was in frustration but at no point has he insulted anybody. It was a comment, ‘don’t f*** with me, why won’t you blow (the whistle).'”

Getafe had already been two goals and a man down before Greenwood was sent for an early bath, but has generally impressed on loan in La Liga and interest has grown over a permanent move away from Old Trafford.
