Man shot while playing football match in Ireland

An adult male was shot in the arm last night at a sports venue in Rear Cross, Co Tipperary.

His injuries are not life-threatening.

The man was wounded by a gunshot to his arm when he was participating in a soccer match under floodlights on Saturday.

The incident happened shortly after 9pm yesterday, January 6.

He was treated at the scene by emergency services and was later transported by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick for further assessment.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward, particularly to individuals who may have been hunting in the area at the time.
