Premier League rivals eye Chelsea’s £30m-rated talent

With the Premier League season just around the corner, Newcastle United is scrambling to bolster their defensive lineup after long-term injuries to club captain Jamaal Lascelles and Dutch center-back Sven Botman.

Despite signing Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly on a free transfer, manager Eddie Howe remains short-handed at the heart of his back four. The Magpies have been linked to several center-backs, including Juventus’ Dean Huijsen, Benfica’s Antonio Silva, and AC Milan’s Malick Thiaw.

In a surprising twist, Newcastle has joined the race to sign Chelsea academy product Trevoh Chalobah, who was left out of the Blues’ squad for their US tour. Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca cited fierce competition for the defender’s signature, with Axel Disasi, Tosin Adarabioyo, and Wes Fofana vying for spots.

With Chalobah reportedly feeling forced out of Chelsea, Newcastle and West Ham are considering offering him a lifeline. However, they face stiff competition from Manchester United, AC Milan, Fulham, and Crystal Palace, all of whom have expressed interest in the versatile defender.
