He said he would clear his name from allegations that he abused the couple in the 1970s.

According to TMZ, the women demanded to pay the 1968 Olympic gold medalist $12.5m each.

The lawsuit alleges that the accusers’ fathers had a friendship with Foreman as well as a working relationship decades ago.

Foreman has insisted that these are all lies and that he will not be intimidated by their threats

In a statement released Wednesday, he said, “Over the past six months, two women have tried to extort millions of dollars each from me and my family.

“They falsely claim that I sexually abused them over 45 years ago in the 1970s.

“I categorically and emphatically deny these allegations.

“My pride in my reputation matters as much to me as my athletic accomplishments, and I will not be intimidated by baseless threats and lies.

“I am and will always be guided by my faith and trust in God.

“I will work with my attorneys to fully and honestly expose the scheme of my accusers and defend myself in court.

“I don’t pick fights, but I don’t run from them either.”

In a career that spanned four decades from 1969 to 1997, Foreman won 76 of 81 fights, with 68 of his victories coming by knockout.

He remains the oldest heavyweight world champion in history after defeating Michael Moorer at the age of 45 years and 299 days in 1994.

His emphatic career was recognized in 2003 when he was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
