Southampton have completed the deadline day signing of Ainsley Maitland-Niles from Arsenal on a season-long loan deal.
The 25-year-old has joined Saints for the rest of the 2022/23 campaign and will provide competition for Southampton in midfield and at full-back, with his versatility offering manager Ralph Hasenhuttl plenty of options in different formations.
Maitland-Niles is Saints’ seventh signing of the summer, following Gavin Bazunu, Mateusz Lis, Armel Bella-Kotchap, Romeo Lavia, Joe Aribo and Sekou Mara in arriving at St Mary’s during the window.
“Ainsley [Maitland-Niles] is at a good point in his career, with a lot of experience already, but he is also still a player with potential, and he is someone who can definitely help us,” said Hasenhuttl about his latest recruit.
