Jamie Carragher snatches phone from fan after being 'riled up' by heated crowd

This is the moment Jamie Carragher appears to grab a fan’s phone as makes his way through a jeering crowd.

The former defender was caught on camera while walking through hostile and provocative supporters at Nottingham Forest’s City Ground on Sunday. The home side were taking on Tottenham Hotspur and Carragher, 44, was there working for Sky Sports. Footage appears to show the Liverpool legend grabbing a mobile from a fan as abuse is shouted his way, before exchanging words with another.

He is then escorted onto the side of the pitch by stewards, where he gestures to the home fans – some of whom had been calling him a “Scouse b******”.

Approached for comment via Sky, Jamie issued a statement and said: “I was being escorted from one part of The City Ground to another, past some vocal fans with plenty of heckling. For me, no harm was intended from either side.”

Video shows the pundit making his way through the crowd while working at the Premier League clash, which Tottenham won 2-0.
