Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, a Nigerian politician and current first lady of Nigeria, has given the Super Falcons the task of winning the FIFA Women’s World Cup finals taking place in Australia and New Zealand.

Before the squad’s departure on Sunday for the event, which begins on July 20 and ends on August 20, she delivered the charge on Saturday in Abuja while hosting the team for dinner.

She was represented by Dr. Betta Edu, the APC National Women Leader at the event.

Sen. Tinubu said that Nigeria’s participation in the 9th FIFA Women’s World Cup must be for the honorable goal of bringing the coveted cup home.

She encouraged the Super Falcons to work hard so they could live up to Nigerians’ expectations while drumming up support for the team and pointing out how important a unifying sport was for the nation.

The statement said, “It is important that you remain committed by playing together as a team; no one should think that she’s better player than the other.

While expressing her faith in the ability and pedigree of the team to excel at the Mundial, the first lady promised to receive the team herself when they bring the cup home.
