Man Utd’s goalkeeper chase explained

VIA SKY SPORTS:

Sky Sports News’ Dharmesh Sheth on the Transfer Show:

“The priority of a goalkeeper seems to be fluctuating every week. It appears to be going up now because David De Gea is officially out of contract and a free agent. Jack Butland was there on loan and he’s no longer at the club.

Tom Heaton has extended his contract and Dean Henderson will at this stage return from his loan at Nottingham Forest – although we know Forest want to sign him on a permanent basis and we believe talks are ongoing.

“They’ve looked at a number of goalkeepers. The one that has emerged as the primary target and was driven by the manager was the Inter Milan ‘keeper Andre Onana, who played under Erik ten Hag at Ajax. But the information we’re getting is that one could prove to be too expensive.

“Man Utd may be looking further down the list – not with regard to quality but expense. If they want to fill all the areas they want to strengthen with the money they’ve got, they may not be able to spend as much as they’d have liked on someone like Onana.”
