Apple is reportedly gearing up for a major AI overhaul in its upcoming iOS 18 update. Rumor has it that this could mean a significant leap forward in artificial intelligence, particularly with the integration of generative AI technology.

Citing insider sources, Bloomberg recently reported that  Apple has reignited talks with OpenAI. What’s on the table? It seems like Apple is eyeing a potential partnership to bring OpenAI’s AI prowess into the fold of iOS 18.

“Apple Inc. has renewed discussions with OpenAI about using the startup’s technology to power some new features coming to the iPhone later this year, according to people familiar with the matter,” Bloomberg reported.

With June’s WWDC event just around the corner where Apple is poised to unveil its AI game plan, all eyes are on Apple, eagerly awaiting Apple’s big AI revelations.

So, what does this mean for iPhone users? It’s quite possible that ChatGPT or a similar AI could find its way into the heart of iOS 18. While the fate of Siri remains uncertain, such integration promises a smarter, more intuitive virtual assistant experience.

Other reports hinted at Apple cozying up to other AI heavyweights like Google. Could Gemini, Google’s language model, be in the cards for iOS 18 as well? It seems Apple is on a quest to cherry-pick the best AI solutions out there. As the potential deals are brewing with both OpenAI and Google, it’s clear that Apple is gunning for a major AI upgrade.

Why does it matter? Well, buckle up, folks, because Apple’s AI revolution is on the horizon. With the likes of OpenAI, Google, and potentially Apple’s in-house AI all vying for a spot in iOS 18, we could be witnessing the dawn of the next ‘ChatGPT moment’ in AI adoption. And with over 1.4 billion iPhone users worldwide, the impact could be seismic.

This partnership with OpenAI comes hot on the heels of Apple’s announcement in October of a $1 billion annual investment in integrating generative AI across its product lineup. Apple is pulling out all the stops to close the gap with the likes of OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
