The breach was reported on Monday, and his Special Assistant on Media, Diana-Mary Nsan, has issued a statement advising Nigerians to ignore any messages received from the compromised number.
According to Nsan’s statement, the hacking of the minister’s WhatsApp number is a serious matter that requires attention. The message circulating on the compromised number is a fake notification that claims to be from the minister, but it is actually a scam attempt to trick unsuspecting individuals into responding to fraudulent requests.
The statement urges Nigerians to be cautious and not respond to any messages demanding personal information or requesting financial transactions. The ministry is working to resolve the issue and restore the minister’s WhatsApp number to its normal functioning state.
Nsan’s statement reads: “Good day Ladies and Gentlemen. It is of great importance that I bring to your notice that the WhatsApp number of the Honourable Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh has been hacked. Please, do not respond to any message or messages demanding from you or making requests, as that fellow isn’t the Sports Minister. The situation will be arrested. Do accept our assurances and best regards.”
