#EndBadGovernance: Don’t be tricked by Tinubu’s address, keep mobilising for Monday’s mega protest in Eagle’s Square – Sowore urges Nigerians

he move by President Bola Tinubu to address the country during the nationwide #EndBadGovernance protests has been described as a move to trick the protesters.

Omoyele Sowore, the convener of the #RevolutionNow movement disclosed this on his X page on Saturday.

A statement by Ajuri Ngelale, presidential spokesperson had said Tinubu would on Sunday address Nigerians in a nationwide broadcast at 7am.

Reacting, Sowore, the African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate in the 2019 and 2023 general elections, said the move was designed “to chill what they know would be a massive outing for #EndBadGovernance in Nigeria on Monday, August 5th 2024.”

He urged Nigerians to keep mobilising for a massive outing at the Eagle’s Square in Abuja on Monday. 

He posted, “We’ve been informed of a plan by the @officialABAT to address the “NATION” tomorrow (Sunday); the “address” is designed to chill what they know would be a massive outing for #EndBadGovernance in Nigeria on Monday, August 5th 2024. 

“Don’t fall for this trick. Keep mobilising for EAGLE SQUARE Abuja at 7 a.m. on Monday. 

“People should start arriving in Abuja tomorrow if they decide to close down roads entering Abuja. Satellite towns around Abuja are also being mobilised to engage in ACTION. #NoGoingBack #EndBadGovernace #RevolutionNow.”

Protesters have continued to hit the streets in Lagos, Oyo, Abuja and other states as they call for, among others, the reversal of fuel subsidy removal and the skyrocketing price of goods and services in the country.
