Benue Police confirm rescue of 20 abducted medical students

The Benue Police Command has confirmed the rescue of 20 medical students from the University of Maiduguri and University of Jos.

The 20 students were kidnapped by gunmen in Benue State last week.

The Command Police spokesman SP Catherine Anene announced their release to The Nation in Makurdi around 11:15 pm on Friday.

She texted: “Kidnap victims released. Details will be released tomorrow,today morning please”.

The Nation learnt that a combined team of security operatives coordinated by the Office of the National Security Adviser carried out the operation.

It was gathered that the successful operation involved the police, operatives of the DSS, the military and the cooperation of the Benue State Government.
