Two British men charged with allegedly assisting Iran in RAF Fairford incident
British authorities have charged two men over suspected activities linked to Iran at RAF Fairford, a military airbase used by American bombers during operations against Iran.
According to CNN, prosecutors announced the charges on Tuesday, October 27, under Britain’s National Security Act.
Mohmed Abdulkarim, 24, faces allegations of engaging in activities likely to assist a foreign intelligence service, while Nouman Essghir, also 24, was charged with entering a prohibited location for purposes prejudicial to Britain.
Both London residents were scheduled to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
Police believe Abdulkarim was assisting Iran, although Tehran has denied allegations of involvement.
Five other suspects arrested during the investigation remain on police bail.
Following the arrests near RAF Fairford on September 27, the United States withdrew its B-1 bombers from the base over security concerns.
President Donald Trump previously said American intelligence had monitored the suspects and helped British authorities prevent potential damage to the facility.
