Trump’s gag order appeal is shot down by New York’s top court

New York’s highest court has denied Donald Trump’s bid for a quick appeal against a gag order in his hush money trial, saying no substantial constitutional question is involved. 

Trump was found guilty on 34 counts of falsifying business records related to payments to an adult film star to influence the 2016 election. The gag order prevents him from attacking witnesses and court staff.

A state appeals court had earlier upheld the gag order, citing threats to witness integrity. Trump’s lawyers now seek to lift the order post-conviction, with prosecutors expected to respond this month.
